a robot that is standing on a white surface

The introductory photograph of TOCABI (Torque Controlled compliAnt BIped), a full-size humanoid robot that can be controlled as an avatar. The robot is 1.8m tall, 100Kg, and has 33 degrees of freedom. One of the best parts of this photo, and releasing it for others to use, is that I also lead the design of it (over the course of 8 years). The lab I used to work with decided to try out the AVATAR XPrize competition, and invited me to join the team. We designed the head and face specific for this competition.
